Your online application must answer/include the following:

- Why it is important to your school?
- Is this project part of a larger garden project? If so, please provide details.
- How will your students be involved in this project?
- What educational outcomes will be achieved through this particular project?
- Will the wider community be involved in this project? If so, how?
- Include a budget on the cost of the project.
- Please outline a time-frame/schedule for completion of your project.
Your application will be assessed on:
- Quality of entry for proposed garden project 10 points
- Level of detail provided
- Broadscale application or targeted grant
- Proposed garden project 5 points
- How well is the project aligned with the chosen grant?
- Why is this project important to the school?
- Is it part of a larger project?
- Expected educational benefits / student involvement 10 points
- Incorporation of project into school curriculum
- Student involvement? Expected involvement of students in the project and beyond
- Community support for the project 5 points
- Does the project include the wider community – parents, volunteers, community
- Project Budget 5 points
- Detail of the budget provided.
- Does the school have a realistic view of the cost involved for the project?
- Does the budget follow the guidelines provided on what items/expenditures the grant supports and doesn’t support?
- Does the budget contain items available through a nursery (when applying for a voucher)?
- Time schedule/plan 5 points
- Is there a clear time schedule/plan for project?
- Previously received VSGP support or funding for School Garden? 5 points
- Priority will be given to schools that have not received a Victorian Schools Garden Award/Grant in the last 12 months?
- Merit and need (only counted in the case of a draw between 2 schools) 5 points
Preference will be given to applications which:
- Demonstrate strong student involvement and directly engage students with planning and on-ground gardening activities
- Are linked to educational outcomes for the school community
- Are supported by the wider community
- Gardens which are sustainability focused and that reuse and recycle wherever possible
- Are part of an ongoing commitment to promoting gardening activities within the school environment
